KCBS- <br />AM ran a story on the Save Our Services <br />Singers that aired throughout the day. KRON <br />(Independent), KGO-7 (ABC) and NBC 11 all <br />ran television news stories on the effort. <br /> <br />"This was a great day for our division,. said <br />Foster City Vice Mayor Linda Koelling. .We <br />have taken the lead and gotten the message <br />out there. We've still got a lot of work to do but <br />this was an unbelievable beginning. If passed by voters, <br />the measure would prevent the state from taking or borrowing funds dedicated to local <br />governments for vital local servIces like public safety, emergency response and other services. <br />The measure would also stop the state from taking or borrowing gas tax funds that voters have <br />dedicated to transportation and public transit improvement projects and services. <br /> <br />Across California, League members are actively working to collect signatures and spread the <br />word about the importance of this measure. Every member of the Riverside City Council took the <br />100/100 pledge. The entire Banning City Council has joined Riverside in taking the 100/100 <br />pledge. It's not just city council members who are engaged in making sure that local revenues are <br />protected. Firefighters in the city of Pacifica are helping collect signatures. <br /> <br />Janice Parvin, Moorpark mayor and Channel Counties Division director reports, "I recently spoke <br />to the Chamber of Commerce regarding our initiative. The response was overwhelmingly in favor. <br />One restaurant owner has taken the initiative to collect signatures when their customer pays at <br />the cash register.. <br /> <br />Anyone who signs the pledge, commits to collecting 100 signatures and donating $100 to the <br />campaign on personal, not public time. <br /> <br />4 <br />
