CITY OF REDWOOD CITY

SAN MATEO COUNTY
CALIFORNIA

GLENN M. JAIN
CITY ENGINEER

SUPT. OF PUBLIC SERVICES

July 17, 1956

P. O. BOX 391
REDWOOD CITY

~ TELEPHONE EMERSON 6-4694

Honorable City Council
Redwood City, California

Gentlemen: He: Abandonment of Public Utility Easement
Lot 12, Block 16, Woodside Terrace No. 4

The request of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Harrison, 2054 Washington
Avenue, Redwood City, dated July 16, 1956, asking abandonment of the five-foot
public utility easement along the southwesterly side of Lot 12, Block 16,
Woodside Terraoe No.4, has been investigated by the Engineering Department.

The easement requested to be abandoned is only a small portion of
a public utility easement, 10 feet in width, extending approximately 900 feet
through the Woodside Terrace Subdivisions. Although this easement is not now
being used, we are reluctant to recommend abandonment of any easement which
might have an ultimate use with further development of the City_

It would be our recommendation, rather than abandon a small portion
of this easement, that Mr. and Mrs. Harrison be given permission to construct
a car port extending to within two feet ot the side property line and five
feet from the rear property lIne of the lot in question. Any such approval
should be subject to the property owners obtaining a written statement from
the Pacific Gas and Electric Company and the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph
Company, advising that they have no objection to the construction of a car
port over a portion of this easement.

At such time as further development in the area indicates that
there will be no further need for the entire easement, extending between
Hampton Avenue and Palm Avenue, necessary steps can be taken to abandon
the entire easement.

Very truly yours,

GMJ:D

~i"" '~7
,~../. /' \..v1W/,..~
l'/l.T~ , ,,-'I
enn M.
