Approve, by motion, Amendment No. 2 to the professional services agreement with
Bottomley Design and Planning to complete additional tasks related to "Stanford in Redwood
City" Project Precise Plan, in the amount of $21,550.

2. Approve, by motion, Amendment No.1 to the professional services agreement with Wagstaff
IMIG to complete additional tasks related to "Stanford in Redwood City" Project Environmental
Impact Report (EIR), in the amount of $85,285.

BACKGROUND
Stanford University has submitted an application for a new "Stanford in Redwood City" campus.
The project would occupy a 35-acre portion of a larger 48-acre (former Mid-Point Technology
Park) campus that is intersected by Broadway and generally bounded by Highway 101, Douglas
Avenue, Bay Street and Second Avenue. The proposal would replace 537,000 square feet of
existing research and development (R&D) building space with approximately 1,518,000 square
feet of administrative office space and to a lesser extent medical clinic and R&D uses. The
proposed concept plan would triple the size of the existing campus with up to 13 commercial
buildings and four parking structures.

On June 18, 2008, the City executed an agreement with Bottomley Design & Planning to prepare
the "Stanford in Redwood City" Precise Plan. The original agreement was in the amount of
$40,120. Because the agreement was under $60,000, it was executed by the City Manager. On
September 18, 2009, Council approved Amendment No. 1 to the original agreement in the
amount of $27,030.

The consultant is now requesting a second amendment in the amount of $21,550 to cover the
cost of additional work on the Draft Precise Plan including revisions to text and graphics,
reformatting and additional meetings that were not anticipated under the original contract. This
second contract amendment brings the total scope of work to $88,700. Stanford requested the
additional work! meetings and has agreed to fund completion of these additional tasks
(Attachment 1).

On August 11, 2008, the City also executed an agreement with Wagstaff/MIG to prepare an EIR
for the "Stanford in Redwood City" project. The original agreement, which included sub-
consultant work, was in the amount of $354,250.

1
