Emissions Reduction Oven►iew Urban ecology projects offer many benefts.Urban farests and wetlands have the potentiaf to sequester carbon by preventing emissions from entering the atmosphere.Trees and landscaping reduce heat island effects,absorb stormwater and remove air poll�tants.Engaging the community in urban ecalogy projects builds community ar�d promotes stewardship of the natural worfd and the conservation of resources.It is difficult to measure the reduction in carbon emissions associated with these types of efforts but is believed that by pramoting stewardship and conservation,community members will further their own efforts to adop� sustainable behaviors in their everyday lives.
