<br /> Award of Contract—Hawes Park Reno�ation Praject
<br /> RECOMMENDATEON
<br /> 1. Reject, by motion, ti�e apparent low bid of $1,261,684.65 submitted by Elite
<br /> L.andscaping Inc. of Clo�is beca�ase the City has deemed this contrac#or to be no�
<br /> responsible, and the second apparent low bid of $1,330,890.00 submitted by
<br /> Goodland �andscape Construction, Inc. of Tracy because their bid is non-
<br /> res�onsive.
<br /> 2. Approve, by motion, the contract documents and award the contract for the Hawes
<br /> Park Renovation Project to the #hird lowest bidder, Robert A. Bothman, Inc. of San
<br /> Jose, for their responsive and responsible bid of$1,421,128.00 and authocize the
<br /> City Manager to increase the cantract amount up to 10% of the amount awarded if
<br /> necessary.
<br /> BACKGROUND
<br /> Hawes Park�is primarily used as a baseball field and also accommodates Junior 49ers
<br /> foo#ball and youth soccer. It is#he seventh and final sport field identi�ed for con�ersion
<br /> of the playing surFace from natural grass #o synthetic turf in the Recycled Vllater Task
<br /> Force Report dated March 3, 2004, and presented to Council on March 22, 2004.
<br /> Canverting sports fields from natural turF to synthetic #urf reduces the demand on
<br /> potab[e water supplies, decreases long term operating costs, and increases the
<br /> availability of the facilities.
<br /> In addition ta the field conversian,the impro�ements to Hawes Park include new, much
<br /> needed shade structures, bleachers, dugouts, scorekeepe�'s booth, scoreboards, and
<br /> restrooms that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Resurfacing of the
<br /> existing parking lot will also be parfi of the improvements.
<br /> The six{6)bids received a�the bid opening on �eb�ary 10,2010, are summarized in
<br /> the table below.
