7A <br /> Page 12 <br /> DRAFT-Will be updated and pravidecf in color for March 22"d Council meeting <br /> .���������w����������:� ��������;���� ����r�� <br /> Two landmark pieces of legislation were enatted in 2005 to address climate change.In 7une of <br /> 2Q05,Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed California Executive Order S-3-Q5,which ca�led <br /> for the State to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and was foflowed by State Assembly Bill <br /> 32,tfie Califamia Global Warming Solutions Act(Califarnia Heafth and Safety Code§38500), <br /> which requires California to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions levefs to 1990 levels by 2020. <br /> The AB 32 Climate Change Scaping Plan has defined this reduction goal as a 15%reduction in <br /> emissions from today's levels by 2020.The Califomia Air Resources Board(CARB}is required by <br /> faw to implement and enforce AB 32.State Bill 375,signed into law in September 2008 <br /> (California Public Resources Code§21155),clarifies that CARB is responsible for setting regianal <br /> greenhouse gas targets.Per 5B 375,transportation funding in California is contingent on <br /> meeting these targets. <br /> Redwood City is afigning its goafs and effo►ts with S�ate(egislation.The City also recognizes <br /> that na ane jurisdiction,agency,company or organization's actions alone can effectively <br /> address the chailenge af climate change.
