<br />6.1 F <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the Cit Mana er <br /> <br />April 12, 2010 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Peninsula Celebration Association's 72nd Annual Fourth of July Celebration. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Authorize execution of a letter permit for the Fourth of July Celebration sponsored by <br />the Peninsula Celebration Association, the Redwood City Parks, Recreation and <br />Community Services Department, and Let's Talk Events. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Peninsula Celebration Association (PCA), in partnership with the Redwood City <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and Let's Talk Events, has <br />requested permission to conduct the annual Fourth of July Celebration. The annual <br />"Fun Run" will be conducted along the parade route from 9:00 am to 9:45 am. The <br />traditional parade will commence at 10:00 am and last until approximately' 12:30 pm. <br />The arts & crafts fair and festival will be held from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Parks, <br />Recreation and Community Services will sponsor live musical entertainment in Court <br />House Square from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Let's Talk Events will sponsor a classic car <br />show from 8:00 am until approximately 4:30 pm. <br /> <br />On July 4th, the parade route and line-up area will be reserved from 6:00 am until 2:00 <br />pm. The arts and crafts fair and festival area will be reserved at 4:00 pm on Saturday <br />July 3rd through 8:00 pm on Sunday July 4th. Court House Square will be reserved from <br />11 :30 am to 5:00 pm. The car show area will be reserved at 6:00 am through 5:00 pm. <br /> <br />The parade will be conducted in the areas detailed on the attached map provided by the <br />PCA in their letter dated March 8, 2010. Parade staging areas require road closures <br />throughout the Centennial Neighborhood. The festival will be conducted on Middlefield <br />from Veterans to Marshall, Hamilton from Marshall to Bradford, and Bradford from <br />Hamilton to a portion of the roadway slightly north of Jefferson. The Let's Talk Events <br />car show will be conducted on Broadway from Winslow to Theater Way. Hamilton from <br />Broadway to Marshall, and Middlefield from Broadway to Marshall. Live musical <br />entertainment will take place within Court House Square. Minor alterations to the <br />parade route and festival areas may be required to facilitate these events. Should <br />alterations be required, any change to the parade route and festival area locations will <br />be determined under the supervision and approval of the Police Chief or his designee. <br /> <br />The City agrees to provide the following services and facilities: street sweepers, <br />barricades, bleacher delivery, installation of flags along the parade route. access to <br />Court House Square, access to the parking structure on Marshall Street for vendor <br />parking, closure and parking restrictions as detailed in the PCA parade application and <br />letter along various city streets starting at 4:00 pm on Saturday, July 3, 2010 until 8:00 <br />pm on Sunday, July 4th, 2010. <br />
