Exterior Levee Access <br /> <br />(1) Provide a ten-foot-wide, paved pedestrian and bicycle path along 900 feet <br />at the southwestern corner of levee segment VII, terminating in a 200- <br />square-foot, public observation platform cantilevered over the bayward <br />levee slope; <br /> <br />(2) Provide a ten-foot-wide, paved pedestrian and bicycle path along 1,500 <br />feet of levee segment II and a portion of levee segment III, terminating <br />along levee segment III at the bend in the exterior levee near the east end <br />of the wastewater treatment plant, in a 200-square-foot, public <br />observation platform cantilevered over the bayward levee slope; and <br /> <br />(3) Provide a ten-foot-wide, decomposed granite (Amendment No. One) <br />pedestrian and bicycle path along the 5,300 feet of levee segment I, and a <br />paved pedestrian and bicycle path along the 1,100 feet of levee segment <br />VIII (see Exhibits A, and B) (Amendment No. One). <br /> <br />b. Alternative Inland Access <br /> <br />(1) Provide a continuous, 8-foot-wide asphalt path around the perimeter of <br />areas slated for development as shown on Exhibit A. Wherever the path <br />shall be jointly used by pedestrians and bicyclists, and wherever <br />sufficient space is available to construct a wider path (i.e., public access <br />corridors 20 feet or wider along Lido parcels one, two, four, and six, and <br />at the lagoon crossing between Lido parcel two and the G-4 <br />development), a 10-foot-wide, paved path shall be provided. Along Area <br />H, the 126 acres of seasonal wetland in the northwest corner of the <br />peninsula. Amendment No. Five of this amended permit authorizes <br />deleting the 8-foot-wide bicycle trail and parallel 6-foot-wide pedestrian <br />path adjacent to' Shearwater Parkway. That pathway will be replaced <br />with a new 10-foot-wide access trail on top of the levee separating the <br />development of a portion of Area H from the area of Area H that will be <br />restored to tidal wetlands, and a bike trail and sidewalk along Shearwater <br />Parkway pursuant to Commission Permit No. 5-07. At a few locations, <br />, mostly where a combined pedestrian/bike path can be accommodated on <br />the top of the interior levee, (for example on 400 feet of the interior levee <br />near the corner of Marine and Shearwater Parkways, from the <br />northeastern corner of Area G-4 (Seacrest) to the pedestrian bridge <br />connecting Lido parcels one and two, along Lido parcel two, near the <br />entrance to the sewage treatment plant, and from all parking lots to the <br />juncture with the nearest public access trail) a 10-foot-wide paved surface <br />shall be constructed. If any fence is installed to prevent trespassing within <br />Area H, the fence shall be no higher than five feet and no closer to the <br />path than 20 feet. Along the Bayward edge of the Lido Parcel (the north <br />central parcel), the 8-foot-wide public access path shall be constructed <br />within a narrow 13-foot to 25-foot-wide area bordered by a street or <br />houses, respectively, and a 60-foot-wide channel designed to prevent <br />
