7A
Page 39

New or expanded entitlements for water supplies would not be needed to serve the potential
development from the project. The 2005 Urban Water Management Plan had identified available water
supply to address potential infill residential project such as those that could result from the rezoning. In
addition, any new residential development would be required to abide by the guidelines and provisions
of the City of Redwood City Water Conservation Program, which includes all applicable Best
Management Practices related to water conservation and applicable provisions in Article 32 for
stormwater treatment in the Zoning Ordinance.

Redwood City is one of 12 member agencies that make up the South Bayside Waste Management
Authority (SBWMA). The SBWMA facilitates and manages recycling and other waste management
programs. The SBWMA contracts with private companies to collect, haul, and dispose of solid waste.
Pursuant to SBWMA contracts, solid waste generated in Redwood City is hauled to Ox Mountain landfill
near Half Moon Bay, Hillside landfill in Colma, or to other landfills further away if necessary. Because
the code amendment does not substantially alter the potential for additional residential development
within the existing R-2 zoning districts and does not exceed the amount of development anticipated in
the General Plan, the project is able to be served by a landfill with sufficient permitted capacity to
accommodate the projecfs solid waste disposal needs. The project would allow only residential
development, which would be required to comply with federal, state I and local statutes and regulations
related to solid waste.

XVII.
