Section 3.61.24. Construction Sign. A temporary sign displayed during the <br />construction of a project to identify the architects, engineers, contractors, financiers and <br />other persons or firms involved in the design, financing and construction of the project. <br />Section 3.6'1.26. Copy. Any letters, numerals or symbols displayed on a sign face to <br />convey a message to the public. <br /> <br />Section 3.61.26. Design Guidelines. A document adopted by the Architectural <br />Review Committee containing general design parameters for various types of signs as <br />well as guidelines for geographic areas of the City with common design characteristics. <br />The purpose of the design guidelines is to assist applicants in designing signs that are <br />consistent with the objectives of this Article. <br /> <br />Section 3.6'1.27. Directional Sign. An off-site sign displayed by a government <br />agency to provide directions to a public facility, building, activity or a place of interest. <br />Section 3.6'1.28. Directory Sign. A sign displaying the names and locations of the <br />occupants of the premises where the sign is located. <br /> <br />Section 3.61.29. District, Zoning. An area designated on the Redwood City Zoning <br />Map 29that is subject to uniform use and development regulations as set forth in <br />Ordinance No. 1130 (the "Zoning Ordinance"). <br /> <br />Section 3.61.30. District, Non-Residential. Any zoning district other than a <br />residential district. <br /> <br />Section 3.6'1.3'1. District, Residential. A zoning district that allows residences on the <br />first floor of a building as a permitted use or accessory use. <br /> <br />Section 3.6'1.32. Electronic Message Sign. A sign displaying messages that are <br />displayed electronically. <br /> <br />Section 3.6'1.33. Exempt Sign. A sign that does not require a permit from the City as <br />set forth in Division 7 ("Real Estate Signs") or Division 8 ("Exempt Signs") of this Article. <br />Section 3.6'1.34. Face Change. A change in color, material or copy that requires the <br />installation of a new or modified sign face of an identical size. Changes of copy on <br />readerboard signs and electronic message signs shall not be considered face changes. <br />Section 3.6'1.36. Flag. A flexible material with distinctive colors and patterns that <br />represent the symbol of a nation, state, local government, company or organization. <br /> <br />Section 3.6'1.36. Freestanding Sign. A sign that is self-supporting in a fixed location <br />and not attached to a building. A portable sign shall not be considered as a <br />freestanding sign. <br /> <br />Section 3.6'1.37. Freeway. A State highway to which the owners of abutting property <br />have no right of access in accordance with the provisions of the California Streets and <br />Highways Code, as of the effective date of the ordinance adding this Article to the Code <br />of the City of Redwood City. <br /> <br />Section 3.6t.38. Government Sign.
