<br />(C(Q)if?J1r <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the wharves comprise approximately 74,600 square feet <br /> <br />(approximately 1.7 acres) of surface area, while the upland areas consist of an additional <br /> <br />approximately 7.5 acres; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the existing structures on the site include the two old wooden deck <br /> <br />wharves (which comprise one continuous wharf), a fixed-location hopper and conveyor <br /> <br />system, a dilapidated warehouse (Warehouse No.1), and a transit shed; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Port has been involved in shipping bulk and neo-bulk <br /> <br />commodities for approximately 150 years and currently handles cargoes which include <br /> <br />cement, aggregates, bauxite and gypsum, among others; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the project site is designated as General Industrial in Redwood City's <br /> <br />Zoning Code and as Heavy Industrial (Manufacturing, Processing and Shipping) <br /> <br />according to the City's 1990 General Plan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the California Environmental Quality <br /> <br />Act ("CEQA"; Pub. Resources Code 921000, et seq.) a final Environmental Impact <br /> <br />Report entitled, "Final Environmental Impact Report for the Wharves 1 And 2 <br /> <br />Redevelopment Project" dated July 2010 (the "FEIR") has been prepared for the Project; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Port participated in the review of the Draft Environmental Impact <br /> <br />Report ("DEIR") and responded to consultation and comments; and <br /> <br />Whereas, on March 16,2010, the Port released for public review a DEIR (SCH # <br /> <br />2009042129); and <br /> <br />Reso- 169; 4:59:50 PM <br />:\shared\Port\Reso <br />FXS <br />07/28/2010 <br /> <br />2 <br />
