42 A - 33 <br />given an opportunity to review the coverage afforded under such substitute plans before <br />they are implemented. <br />The City and RCPSA agree that in the event state or federal law changes to the extent <br />that mandates are placed on the City or the level of benefits changes during the term of <br />this MOU, the parties agree to reopen the MOU to meet and confer over such changes or <br />mandates, if either party requests to do so. <br />10.5 Long Term Disabilitv <br />The City will pay $19.50 per month, per employee towards the cost of Long Term <br />Disability Coverage. <br />10.6 Vision <br />Effective with the first full pay period on or after September 1, 2003, the City will <br />contract with Vision Service Plan (VSP) or comparable vision care provider to provide <br />vision care benefits for employees and their dependents. The Vision Service Plan `B" <br />provides for an exam every 12 months, lenses every 12 months if needed, and frames <br />every 2 years, if needed. There is no deductible for employees, but a $20.00 per person <br />deductible will apply to dependents each time benefits are available and will be paid by <br />employees. <br />SECTION 11. PROBATION <br />All appointments shall be tentative and subject to a probationary period of twelve (12) months of <br />service from the date of appointment. During the probationary period an employee may be <br />rejected at anytime by the City Manager upon recommendation of the Police Chief. Any regular <br />employee rejected during the probationary period shall be reinstated to the position from which <br />he or she was promoted unless conditions warrant his or her dismissal. <br />Upon satisfactory completion of such probationary period, the employee shall be appointed to a <br />regular full -time position in that classification. <br />SECTION 12. RESIGNATION <br />An employee wishing to leave the service of the City in good standing shal. file with the Police <br />Chief at least two (2) weeks notice of an intention to leave the service unless the Police Chief <br />consents to the employee's leaving sooner. The written resignation shall state the effective date <br />and reasons for leaving. The resignation shall be forwarded to the Personnel Officer, with a <br />statement by the Police Chief as to the resigned employee's service performance and other <br />pertinent information concerning the cause for resignation. <br />22 <br />
