6.2A

Agreement with PG&E is needed. Redwood City is in discussions with PG&E abo:~~e 10
project and PG&E is agreeable to the work proposed but a finalized agreement has not
been completed. An agreement will be in place prior to programming.

Project design completed?

Yes

No X

Preliminary design is complete but construction documents need to be fmalized.

Can the project be divided into phases or could it be partially funded. Please explain:

The proiect can be separated into two phases. The first phase would be the completion of
the path. This would include the required grading~ paving and site furnishings needed to
complete a safe usable path.

The second phase could include the aesthetic improvements to the path area. This would
include the landscape and irrigation improvements which would improve the nature and
character of the pathway.

If separated the first phase of the proiect would require $295..825.00 of funding and the
second phase would require $85~225.00 offunding.

Earliest year in which the proj ect can obtain E-76 approval from Caltrans?

Circle one: ~y 2010/20111

FY 2011/2012

Projects sponsor's preference as to which year the project sponsor would obtain E-76
approval from Caltrans?

Circle one: ~Y 2010/20111

FY 2011/2012

SAFETY

How is safety improved because of the project? Explain:

Due to the various stages of deterioration of the existing trail there are several potential
trip and slip obstructions for cyclists and pedestrians. The proiect will remove these
potential obstructions by grading the trail and paving the path. This will provide a safe
and reliable surface for pedestrian and cyclist use. The addition of a fence will improve
the safety of the surrounding wetlands and prevent intrusion from visitors and pets. The
trail will also serve as a connection between the entrance of the Wildlife Refuge at the
end of Whipple Avenue and the parking lot at the end of Bair Island Road. Previously
people accessing the Refuge had to park along the side of the road at the end of Whipple
Avenue. This was very risky for visitors and their vehicle since there was only a very
minimal shoulder to park on. Visitors were required to walk in the roadway to access
their vehicles. . The new parking lot was built to remove this conflict but the trail between
the two locations was never completed. Through this proiect cyclists will have a safe
commute route that separates them from the traffic on East Bayshore Road.
