<br />',. 4 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />balance of sick leave shall be carried forward <br />to the following year as accumulated sick leave. <br />Except for payment upon termination, amounts <br />payable hereunder shall be paid after December 3l <br />of the year for which calculated, and no advance <br />payment thereof shall be made. <br /> <br />.. (2) Any employee eligible for payment under this <br />subsection (c) may elect not to receive the <br />benefits of said subsectioni provided, however, <br />that said election must be made in writing and <br />filed with the City Auditor on or before December 1 <br />of each year for which said election is to be <br />effective. Said election shall be effective only <br />for the year in which made, and a new filing <br />shall be made for each year in which said election <br />is to be effective. In the event an election <br />not to receive the benefits of this subsection <br />(c) is made, the provisions of said subsection <br />(c) shall not apply to the electing employee. <br /> <br />.. (3) Every employee leaving the service of the City <br />and eligible for payment under this subsection (c) <br />shall receive compensation in lieu of sick leave <br />calculated in accordance with the provisions of <br />subparagraph (l) hereof but prorated to the date <br />of termination of servicei provided, however, <br />that if an employee dies while in the service <br />of the City, said payment shall be made to such <br />recipient thereof as said employee shall have <br />specifically designated in writing filed with <br />the City Auditor prior to death, or, if no such <br />designation has been made, then to the beneficiaries <br />designated in that life insurance policy insuring <br />said employee's life, the premiums for which were <br />paid for by the CitYi and, provided, further, <br />that no employee discharged from the service of <br />the City shall be eligible for payment hereunder. <br /> <br />.. (d) The provisions of subsection (c) hereof shall <br /> <br />be effective for the calendar year commencing January l, <br /> <br />1970i provided, however, that the Council of the City of <br /> <br />Redwood City may, by motion duly made and carried, designate <br /> <br />any calendar year for which said provisions shall be effective." <br /> <br />5.
