DES :lm :6/16/69 <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />JUN 16 'II' <br /> <br />REE.OLUT.!ON <br /> <br />N O. 601J- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CONCEPT OF ESTABLISHMENT OF <br />NATIONAL WILD LIFE REFUGE COMPLEX IN SOUTH SAN <br />FRANCISCO BAY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the establishment of a national wild life refuge <br /> <br />complex in the South San Francisco Bay has been proposed; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proponents of such refuge have requested the <br /> <br />Council of the City of Redwood City to endorse the establishment <br /> <br />thereof, and, particularly, HR 2749 (introduced in the First <br /> <br />Session of the Ninety-first Congress) which would authorize the <br /> <br />Secretary of the Interior to establish such refuge; and <br /> <br />\vHEREAS, this Council is ever mindf.ul of the need to <br /> <br />balance the requirements for wild life sanctuaries, open <br /> <br />space, and outdoor recreation, with the requirements for <br /> <br />residential, commercial, industrial, and navigation develop- <br /> <br />ments of this area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a portion of the area proposed to be used as <br /> <br />a national wild life complex lies within the City of Redwood <br /> <br />City, the port area of the Port of Redwood City, and Redwood <br /> <br />City General Improvement District No. 1-64; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said area has heretofore been designated for <br /> <br />development consistent with the development of General Improve- <br /> <br />ment District No. 1-64 (for whi~h said area serves as partial <br /> <br />security for general obligation bonds issued by said District), <br /> <br />the Port of Redwood City (being a deepwater port), and the <br /> <br />City of Redwood City; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE C0UNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. That this Council hereby approves and supports the <br /> <br />concept of the establishment of a national wild life refuge <br /> <br />complex in the South San Francisco Bay area, and further <br />
