<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />, ,. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />supports HR 2749. <br /> <br />2. That any establishment of a national wild life refuge <br /> <br />in the South San Francisco Bay area within, or affecting, the <br /> <br />City of Redwood City, Redwood City General Improvement District <br /> <br />No. 1-64, or the port area of the Port of Redwood City, and <br /> <br />the implementation of any legislation providing for such <br /> <br />wild life refuge shall provide that: <br /> <br />(a) In the event any land is so used within Redwood City <br />General Improvement District No. 1-64 the amount <br />thereof shall not impair the security for the bonds <br />issued by said District; <br /> <br />(b) Such refuge shall not interfere with, or hamper the <br />proposed development or expansion of the Port of <br />Redwood City and its deepwater facilities, or ship- <br />ping and navigation related to said Port; <br /> <br />(c) The Federal Government shall provide, at its own <br />expense, for the creation of landscaped screening, <br />or other "buffer" between such refuge and any <br />developed areas; <br /> <br />(d) The Federal Government shall insure that in the <br />event salt ponds or other industrial areas are set <br />aside for the development of such refuge, such <br />areas shall continue to be used for commercial <br />purposes at the discretion of the owners thereof <br />for such period as may be agreed upon between the <br />Federal Government and the owners of such ponds or <br />areas; . <br /> <br />(e) Such refuge shall include the area commonly known <br />as "Bird Island;1I and <br /> <br />(f) Such public hearings as Congress may determine to <br />hold on the establishment of such refuge shall be <br />held in the Redwood City area. <br /> <br />3. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed <br /> <br />to send copies ~of this resolution to the Honorable George Murppy; <br /> <br />the Honorable Alan Cranston; the Honorable Paul N. McCloskey, Jr.; <br /> <br />the South San Francisco Baylands Planning, Conservation, and <br /> <br />National Wild Life Committee (ad hoc). <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />":'~2- <br />
