<br />C <br />I, .~ oJ, <br /> <br />Job Specification <br />Redwood City . <br />,'June 1968 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />LEADMAN <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under general supervision, to supervise and assist a crew in <br />performing a variety of semi-skilled, and sk~lled tasks in the <br />street, sewer, and water, construction, maintenance, and repair <br />activities; to do related work as required. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />Duti~s assigned tb positions in this class are generally performed <br />in the field without close supervision. Work a?signments ar~ <br />usually made on a daily basis and supervisory responsibility is <br />limited to direct supervi'sion 'of field crews on the job. Incumbents <br />are required to participate in the work performed by street, sewer <br />or water crews, and only one of these activities is usually performed <br />as a work assignment. ' <br /> <br />TYPICAL TASKS <br /> <br />Street <br /> <br />Receivies daily assi~nments on street 'and road con~truction, main- <br />tenance, or repair; lays out the work, supervises'and assists a crew <br />in completing the work; supervises and participate's in breaking up <br />old concrete; building, forms, mixing and pouring concrete, cutting <br />and preparing streets for patches, filling or building up holes, <br />cracks, or low spots in city streets, spreading pre-~ix and oil <br />macadam; uses construction equipment in 'street maintenance and repair; <br />'supervises and assists in rough carpentry work such as laying forms, <br />leveling and lining forms for foundations; supervises and participates <br />in ~he painting of traffic markings on city,streets, and the installa- <br />tion of traffic signs and traffic 'control devices; inspects, and checks <br />work to see that'it is done properly and expeditiously; insures proper <br />care and use of tools and equipment; checks daily personnel time sheets <br />and maintains records of materials used. <br /> <br />,'Se~er <br /> <br />Superviies and assists in the work of a crew in cleaning, flushing, <br />and repairing sewer lines; investigates stoppages in sewer lines; <br />operates pumps to pump sewage from broken or stopped-up lines;' <br />investigates complaints and makes necessary repairs; raises or lowers <br />manholes; builds manholes, catch basins, and small bulkheads and <br />installs new sections in sewer-lines; inspects and cleans storm drains; <br />assists in,keeping streets and gutters clear of trash and rubbish; <br />maintains simple r~cords of time and material~. <br /> <br />, Water <br /> <br />Supervises a crew of semi-skilled and unskilled workers and personally <br />participates in installing and maintaining water lines, mains, and <br />related facilities; determines that work is ,done properly and expedi- <br /> <br />Exhibit D <br />
