<br />1- <br /> <br />Job specificat~on. <br />Redwood City <br />June 1968 <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />ASSISTANT PARK SUPERINTENDENT <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under direction of the Park Superintendent, to organize and supervise <br />several crews of workmen in the maintenance of, city parks and p1ay- <br />gounds; to assist the Superintendent in planning and executing park <br />maintenance and development, and to do other related work as required. <br /> <br />TYPICAL TASKS <br /> <br />Plans, organizes, assigns and' assists in maintenance of parks and <br />piaygrounds; supervises the work of light equipment in the construc- <br />tion of parks; operates equipment when necessary; plans needed. repairs <br />and assists in making them; supervises the eradication of weeds; keeps <br />time reports and other records. <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Education: Completion of the twelfth grade. <br /> <br />'Experience: Five years of park maintenance work, including <br />three years as a s~pervisor. <br /> <br />Substitution: A degree in horticulture may be substituted <br />for two years of the required experience. <br /> <br />Knowledge of the materials, equipment, and practices used in the <br />.preparation of turfed areas; knowledge of pipe laying for sprinkler <br />sys.tems; ability to ,operate and s.upervise the operation and main- <br />tenance of light equipment and park tools; ability to estimate <br />planting and maintenance work:' ability to read engineering drawings <br />relating to parks and playgrounds: knowledge of plants, trees, <br />fertilizers, and approved gardening methods: ability to get along <br />with people: to keep records and make reports; to meet with the <br />public and to substitute for department head when necessary. <br /> <br />Possession of a valid California driver's licen~e. <br /> <br />, ' <br /> <br />Exhibit C <br />
