EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS <br /> <br />Education and experience - combination of education and experience substantially <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />equivalent to a high school education, including or supplemented by a course <br /> <br />in stenography and typewriting, and one year experience in stenographic and <br /> <br />clerical work. <br /> <br />Knowledge and ability - Knowledge of modern office methods and appliances; abil- <br /> <br />ity to take dictation at a speed of not less than 110 words a minute and ac- <br /> <br />curately transcribe it; good vocabulary and knowledge of correct punctuation, <br /> <br />spelling and grammatical usuage: ability to type at a speed of not less than <br /> <br />50 words a minute from clear copy; ability to perform miscellaneous clerical <br /> <br />work of average difficulty; ability to carry out oral and written directions, <br /> <br />to learn rules and regulations quickly and to interpret them correctly: abil- <br /> <br />ity to deal tactfully and effectively with prisoners, law enforcement officers <br /> <br />and general public; general knowledge of location of streets, roads, highways <br /> <br />and subdivisions in incorporated areas of the city; willingness to work at <br /> <br />night and overtime if necessary; ability to get along well with others. <br /> <br />License required - R\~stricted Radio Telephone Operator's permit or better, <br /> <br />issued by the Federal communications commission, must be obtained upon ap- <br /> <br />pointment. <br /> <br />~ <br />
