7.A
Page 6
Veterans Boulevard
Transform the Veterans corridor into a true boulevard, with nodes of regional
commercial, businesses that benefit from high freeway visibility, an office district, and
mixed use neighborhoods in between. See Mixed Use — Corridor land use designation
in the New General Plan.
Woodside Road Corridor
Create an attractive, walkable residential boulevard with mixed use nodes that residents
can easily walk to. Throughout Woodside Road, efforts will be made to increase
pedestrian connectivity and safety. See Mixed Use — Neighborhood land use
designation in the New General Plan.
El Camino Real
Transform El Camino Real to a vibrant, mixed use, pedestrian-friendly boulevard that
links regional transportation improvements and local economic development efforts.
The vision for El Camino Real is integrated with the Grand Boulevard Initiative
developed by San Mateo and Santa Clara County jurisdictions. See Mixed Use —
Neighborhood; Mixed Use — Corridor; and Mixed Use — Downtown land use map
designations in the New General Plan.
Mixed Use Waterfront
Encourage an emerging waterfront neighborhood. Allow for higher density housing,
floating homes, docks, and access to the Bay. Prepare a Master Plan for the Redwood
Creek/Harbor area to insure overall strategies are consistent with the plan and link to
the City's downtown. See Mixed Use — Waterfront Neighborhood land use designation
in the New General Plan.
Broadway Corridor
Combine office and technology land use designations to provide more flexibility and
opportunities for economic development. Also provide highly flexible industrial space for
start-up and expanding light industrial businesses including an "incubator" overlay
designation. A street car network is proposed that will connect this area with the
Downtown. See Light Industrial Incubator Overlay District and Commercial — Office
Professional/Technology land use designations in the New General Plan.
Port
Protect and enhance the valuable deep-water Port facilities. Provide for heavy
industrial activities requiring large properties and water access for materials loading,
storage, and processing and other uses. A Port Area Master Plan will be prepared in
context with the Redwood Creek /Harbor Master Plan, referenced above. See Industrial
— Port Related land use designation in the New General Plan.
New Text Amendments
The New General Plan also provides completely new discussions and analysis on the
following topics:
• Urban Form and Land Use • Lifelong Learning
• Circulation • Libraries, Schools
