This project is sufficiently funded to accommodate the overage and the <br /> cost of the additional bid items. Blossom Valley Construction, Inc. has successfully <br /> completed similar projects in the past and is a qualified contractor. Based on the bids <br /> received, staff believes that the low bid is reasonable and recommends awarding the <br /> contract to Blossom Valley Construction, Inc. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> Council may choose not award the contract for the Fair Oaks Child Care Center Infant <br /> Play Area Renovation Project and direct staff to reject bids, redesign the project, and <br /> repeat the public bidding process. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> Funds for the general work of this project have been approved and appropriated in the <br /> Fiscal Year 2010/11 budget as Capital Projects Fund -- Play Equipment Replacement <br /> Program which has an available balance of $721,973.92 as of September 30, 2010. <br /> There are two other park projects, one at Dove Beeger Park and the other at Westwood <br /> Park, that are in the final design stage and will be advertised and scheduled to be <br /> awarded before the end of this year.
