A recurring <br />: <br />question was the extent to which local agencies must recognize "antiquated <br />■ <br />subdivisions" or parcels created prior the 1893, the year the Subdivision Map <br />: <br />Act was adopted. The potential for such lots wreaking havoc on local planning <br />• <br />efforts is significant. One estimate places the total number of such lots at <br />■ <br />400,000 state wide.
