(0-2c-3- <br />ABANDONED VEHICLE ABATEMENT PROGRAM <br />PURPOSE: <br />The objective of the Abandoned Vehicle Abatement program is the abatement of <br />abandoned vehicles. C/CAG ac.: as the San Mateo AVA Service Authority. <br />Reimbursement is provided to participating agencies through revenues provided from <br />vehicle registration fees. <br />BENEFITS: <br />• Cars Removed from San Mateo County Streets 2,257 (2001 estimate) <br />• Agency Cost Reimbursement $702,477 (18 Agencies) <br />• Air Quality Emissions Reduction (Note 1) 18 -26 Tons (2001 estimate) <br />Note 1- Assumptions included: a- 1.1% of the cars abated were towed, destroyed and <br />operating (295), b- the vehicle was replaced with a newer model and driven the same <br />number of miles (4000) and c- abated cars were 1975 -1981. Based on these assumptions <br />BAAQMD calculated the emissions reduction. <br />C /CAG BOARD ROLE: <br />• Sponsor the program on behalf of the participating local jurisdictions in San <br />Mateo County. <br />• Distribute State funding to local jurisdictions participating in the program. <br />
