 - Z
t at would not jeopardize the water quality of the lagoons and the City's continued
compliance with the regulatory requirements of RWQCB. The Council is not obligated to
extend the term of the Agreement with Waterworks Industries, Inc. Council could direct
staff to start the RFP process immediately. However, this would delay the City's ability to
bring on a contractor to provide maintenance services for a minimum of 60 days. Such a
delay would impair the City's ability to control the spread of nuisance aquatic vegetation
during the most prolific growth period (March /April through September).
Fiscal Impact
The total Fiscal Year 02/03 budget approved by Council for lagoon management services
is $235,000 (funded by GID 1 -64 Maintenance District assessments). The current budget
request for Fiscal Year 03 -04, without budget reductions to GID 1 -64, contains $232,000 to
support lagoon maintenance services. The term of Task Order No 5 spans both fiscal
years, March 1, 2003 through June 30, 2003 in Fiscal Year 02 -03 and July 1, 2003 through
December 31, 2003 in Fiscal Year 03 -04. Currently, sufficient funds have been budgeted
to cover the scope of services under Task Order 5. If all funds are expended during this
Task Order period, ample funds have been earmarked in the proposed Fiscal Year 03 -04
budget to support these services through the end of Fiscal Year 03 -04.
Marilyn W. 14arang
Public Works Superintendent
Peter Ingram
Public Works Services Director
fJ
E Evere
City Manager
Attachments
1.
