She asked that vacant positions be used to provide placement <br /> for laid off workers. <br /> Brock Weinstad, on behalf of State Senator Joe Simitian, announced a town hall meeting <br /> at the Council Chambers on October 6, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. He invited <br /> everyone to not only attend but invite others too. <br /> Nancy Radcliffe, spoke about the City Trees' 10-year celebration that will take place on <br /> October 16, 2010. She invited the Council to attend. She also announced the upcoming <br /> PortFest which will be this Saturday beginning at 8:00 a.m. There will be many activities <br /> including a pancake breakfast and a boat race between the Council and the Planning <br /> Commission. Mayor Ira added that there will be an opportunity to enjoy the BIAC (Bair <br /> Island Aquatic Center) and see the waterway which is very special. <br /> Lynn Chou Jonas, a Redwood City resident, opposes having an additional downtown jail. <br /> She would like more outreach done and she asked Council to include future dialogues with <br /> the Sheriff's Office about shared services. <br /> M/S Bain/Foust to approve the Consent Calendar.
