6.1 F <br /> REPaRT ' <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Cit Mana er <br /> October 25, 2010 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Response to the San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury Report "Sex Offender Law <br /> Enforcement in San Mateo County." <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve the Police Chief s Response to the San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury Report <br /> "Sex Offender Law Enforcement in San Mateo County." <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> In December 2009, the San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury informed the Chief of Police <br /> that it was conducting an investigation into the management of sex offenders in San <br /> Mateo County. ln July 2009, the Civil Grand Jury filed its report with the County <br /> Superior Court and the report includes 17 "findings" and six "recommendations." The <br /> � Court wrote that the City must within ninety days; submit to the Court comments <br /> regarding the report's findings and recommendations and that the response must be <br /> approved by City Council at one of its regular meetings.
