Freedman Tung & Bottomley (FTB), in association with its design subconsultants, will prepare design <br />concept recommendations for the installation of a capital improvement project as follows: <br />Courthouse Square <br />• It is our understanding that at the Broadway side of the 1910 Historic Courthouse building, <br />the City will be demolishing and removing the 1940 Fiscal Building and restoring the <br />portico of the Courthouse Building. A cleared site will be provided to the project. <br />• This project entails the preparation of a conceptual design of a Courthouse Square Plaza <br />according to input received from Community Workshops, other participating group(s), City <br />Council and Commissions, and City Staff. <br />• The Plaza's design may include a special feature such as a fountain or shelter structure, <br />again depending on design direction. <br />• Design recommendations from the FTB team for the Courthouse Square will include the <br />area from the facade of the 1910 Historic Courthouse to the facade of the Historic Fox <br />Theatre (across Broadway), inclusive of the segment of Broadway between Hamilton Street <br />and Middlefield Road. On side street exposures, recommendations will include areas up to <br />the back of curb at Middlefield Road and Hamilton Street. <br />• The completed conceptual design for the Courthouse Square will be the basis for a <br />following construction documents phase (not included in this Scope of Services). <br />2. Marshall Street frontage landscape <br />It is our understanding that at a future date to be established, the City will demolish the <br />1941 North Annex building and restore the Marshall Street side of the 1910 Historic <br />Courthouse. <br />As part of this Courthouse Square Conceptual Design process, a conceptual design will be <br />prepared for the grounds of the Marshall Street side of the 1910 Historic Courthouse in <br />anticipation of that future demolition and restoration. <br />Assuming the demolition of the 1941 North Annex Building, the Marshall Street frontage <br />landscape project area is recommended to extend from the to -be- restored Marshal Street <br />facade of the 1910 Historic Courthouse Building to the back of sidewalk across Marshall <br />Street, inclusive of the segment of Marshall between Hamilton Street and Middlefield <br />Road. We recommend inclusion of the street right -of -way in this block to insure a <br />complete consideration of open space form and function. <br />
