• • <br /> 1073 The Agency shall approve the date of the drop -off event and all advertisements or <br /> 1074 public announcements related to such event. Contractor shall promote the event by <br /> 1075 preparing Billing inserts to be included in each Customer's Bill and by advertising in <br /> 1076 a minimum of two local area newspapers as approved by the Agency. <br /> 1077 Contractor shall manage, staff, and supervise the event. Contractor shall provide <br /> 1078 traffic control and signage; inspect materials delivered to the event; separate <br /> 1079 materials; document each material type and quantity; transport Collected materials <br /> 1080 to reuse, processing or Disposal locations; and clean up the location at the end of <br /> 1081 the event. <br /> 1082 Contractor shall not charge Customers delivering materials to the event. <br /> 1083 B. Accepted Materials. Customers may deliver and Contractor shall accept Major <br /> 1084 Appliances, Bulky Items, Source Separated Targeted Recyclable Materials, Source <br /> 1085 Separated Organic Materials, tires (i.e., four (4) per Customer, removed from rims, <br /> 1086 no commercial tires), clean unpainted wood, construction and demolition debris, <br /> 1087 Universal Waste, E -Scrap and Solid Waste. Contractor shall be allowed to reject: <br /> 1088 liquids or sludge; cement; dirt; asphalt; concrete; Hazardous Waste; or Infectious <br /> 1089 Waste. Contractor shall not establish a limit on the volume or weight of materials <br /> 1090 that a Customer may bring for Collection. <br /> 1091 C. Participants. Contractor shall verify Residents live in the Agency by reviewing a <br /> 1092 driver's license or utility bill. <br /> 1093 D. Event Hours. Contractor shall accept materials from Residential Customers over <br /> 1094 one (1) weekend Day (i.e., Saturday or Sunday) or two (2) consecutive weekend <br /> 1095 Days from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. <br /> 1096 E. Recycling and Reuse. Contractor shall Collect materials in a manner that <br /> 1097 maximizes reuse, Recycling, composting, and diversion of materials from Disposal. <br /> 1098 Contractor shall make reasonable efforts to ensure that diversion goals are met or <br /> 1099 exceeded. Contractor shall separate Recyclable Materials and Organic Materials <br /> 1100 and transport such materials to the Designated Transfer and Processing Facility or <br /> 1101 an alternative processing site with advance authorization from Agency. Contractor <br /> 1102 shall coordinate with re -use vendor(s) to have a representative present at the drop - <br /> 1103 off event to accept donated clothes or other reusable items. Disposal of materials <br /> 1104 shall be the Contractor's last option. <br /> 1105 F. Handling Major Appliances. Major Appliances shall be reused, Recycled, or <br /> 1106 Disposed by Contractor in accordance with requirements of Applicable Law. Any <br /> 1107 changes to such regulations made after the Effective Date shall be addressed as <br /> 1108 though they are a Change in Law in accordance with Section 11.05. <br /> 1109 G. Scheduling Community Drop -Off Events. Upon request from Agency, Contractor <br /> 1110 shall promote, manage, staff, and operate community drop -off events described in <br /> 1111 this Section. If Agency exercises such right, it shall provide written notice to <br /> 1112 Contractor at least three (3) months before the first day of the requested drop -off <br /> 1113 event. The Contractor's Compensation attributable to Agency for such service shall <br /> 1114 be based on Contractor's proposed cost, provided in Attachment Q. <br /> 1115 H. Confidential Document Destruction Service. If requested by Agency, Contractor <br /> 1116 shall provide confidential document destruction service at the drop off event(s). <br /> 1117 Contractor will provide adequate equipment and staffing necessary for the event <br /> 1118 and shall ensure full destruction of confidential documents and other materials <br /> Franchise Agreement for Collection Services with Recology San Mateo County <br /> City of Redwood City <br /> ATTY /AGR/2010.014 <br /> 040510 Page 29 of 115 <br />
