This proposal shall remain valid for a period of sixty (60) days. <br /> PROJECT UNDERSTANDING / HISTORY: <br /> The City of Redwood City (City) is requesting a proposal for design of a trail enhancement project at Whipple <br /> Avenue for a Bay Trail Zink. Based on our previous preliminary design and discussion with the City, the <br /> improvements will include a 10' wide asphalt trail with an 18" aggregate base shoulder. The trail will run from <br /> the end of Whipple Avenue at the edge of the bay lands and run along the bay lands to Bair Island Road. A <br /> portion of the trail has a private high density residential property adjacent to it and further north the property is <br /> separated from the trail by a small linear pond. <br /> The project has several agencies that will require interaction and project review and the City will lead these <br /> coordination efforts. The property is owned by PG &E and the City will provide the coordination with the property <br /> owner. The City has attained grant funding and Caltrans is the grant administrator and the City will lead the <br /> coordination with Caltrans. We may have some interaction with Caltrans and Fish and Wildlife Service at the <br /> Whipple Avenue and East Bayshore Road area and Verde Design can support the City with their coordination <br /> efforts. <br /> Services will include development of the Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS &E). Services included provide for <br /> 60 %, 95% and bid submittals. Bid support and construction services have also been included as an optional <br /> service. Consultants included on our team and services they will provide are as follows: <br /> 1. We have included PLS Surveys to provide an updated to the survey. Their services will include mapping <br /> the property lines and easements. Locations of large shrubs and trees will be included. Additional grades <br /> will be included for the Whipple Avenue and East Bayshore Road turn and trail alignment. <br /> 2. We are providing an optional service for the wall design that will be completed by Mesiti - Miller <br /> Engineers (Structural Engineers). They will provide the plan and wall profiles drawings for this wall design <br /> for flooding protection. <br /> 3. Geotechnical services were included with BAGG Engineers as optional services. Services will include a <br /> couple of borings, grading and paving recommendations and wall design criteria. <br /> Levee trail elements will include renovation of the trail, to the Whipple Avenue turn and connection to Bair Island <br /> Road for access to the parking lot. Development of the PS &E package will include many of these program <br /> elements and the following: <br /> 1. Trail improvements on top of the existing levee <br /> 2. Accessible compliance at the levee trail entrances <br /> 3. Planting buffers along private property edge <br /> 4.
