Describe the plan and approach for marketing the shuttle service,
The Alliance marketing team continues to promote the service to other area employers,
soliciting their financial participation as well. The service is promoted through a variety of
avenues including Employer Transportation Coordinator meetings, employer presentations,
employer health/commute benefit fairs, Chamber advertisements, Alliance website —
commute.org, as well as focused e-newsletter blasts and eRiderAlerts. The shuttles all have a
common Alliance branding which includes a large Alliance logo decal, exterior shuttle
destination signage which includes funding entities. The Redwood City shuttles have an
additional branding element with a unique identifying route logo. In essence, the vehicles are
a rolling billboard for the shuttle senrice.
The 205 Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance Employer Transpotation Survey
showed that employers who had heard of the Alliance had a drive alone rate of 62.1% versus
75.3% for those who had not heard of the Alliance (PTCRA 2005 Employee Transportation
Survey, pg 21). The Mid Point Caltrain Shuttle is an Alfiance managed service and is part of a
package of commute alternative programs offered to the participants in an effort to reduce
traffic and emissions in San Mateo County.
16.
