01/10/2011 <br /> 7.10 Special Assignment <br /> Each employee in the classification of Fire Fighter /Engineer or Fire Captain who <br /> is assigned by the Fire Chief to a forty 40 -hour workweek while working on a <br /> special department assignment shall continue to receive compensation as <br /> outlined in Section 8.5. Limited -duty due to an industrial disability shall be <br /> considered a special assignment. <br /> In accordance with Section 9.3, special assignments shall not exceed ninety <br /> (90) calendar days, except by mutual agreement between the City and the <br /> Union. <br /> 7.11 Service Incentive <br /> Effective January 1, 1988, employees with fifteen (15) or more years of service <br /> shall be paid a service incentive. The Service Incentive provision is considered a <br /> progressive "grandfather provision" and applies only to those employees who <br /> are currently employed in the Redwood City Fire Department in the following <br /> way: <br /> Employees with fifteen (15) but less than twenty (20) years of service will <br /> receive an additional two and one -half percent (2- 1/2 %) of pay. <br /> Employees with twenty (20) but less than twenty -five (25) years of service, will <br /> receive an additional two and one -half percent (2-1/2%) of pay (five percent <br /> (5 %) total). <br /> Employees with twenty -five (25) or more years of service will receive an <br /> additional two and one -half percent (2 -1/2 %) of pay (seven and one -half <br /> percent (7 -1/2 %) total). <br /> The Service Incentive shall be considered wages for the purpose of computing <br /> overtime, holiday pay, and PERS retirement benefits. <br /> Service Incentive will be effective the first payroll period following submittal of <br /> qualifying paperwork and approval of Fire Chief. <br /> It is understood that the same employee will not receive both Educational and <br /> Service Incentive benefits. <br /> 7.12 Educational Incentive <br /> The Educational Incentive provisions apply to new employees hired on or after <br /> January 1, 1988, and to those previously hired employees who do not qualify <br /> for or elect to be covered by the Service Incentive provisions. <br /> 15 <br /> Page 21 #15077 <br /> MUFF # 905 <br />
