b. Discuss stakeholder support. As appropriate, attach letters of support. Stakeholders
can include governing bodies, project owners, and public groups.
Stakeholder Support - Attached is a support letter from Stanford Medicine Outpatient Center,
an original signatory to the consortium agreement and continue to support the service on
behalf of their staff, students and patients. A support letter is also attached from Summit
Charter High School (on behalf of their staff).
c. Discuss any potential funding shortfalls, and how they will be addressed. Also discuss
any funding sources that are considered risky, and how that will be addressed. Finally,
discuss how the project can and would be scaled to address funding shortfalls.
Potential shortfalls will likely come from a reduction in contributing employer
participants. Additional contributions or new participants are the only way we can meet
our operating budget after grant funds. Any major funding shortfalls that might arise
will be met with equivalent service adjustments if adequate replacement funding is not
secured.
d. Describe the plan and approach for marketing the shuttle service.
The Alliance marketing team continues to promote the service to other area employers,
soliciting their financial participation as well. The service is promoted through a variety of
avenues including Employer Transportation Coordinator meetings, employer presentations,
employer health /commute benefit fairs, Chamber advertisements, Alliance website —
commute.org, as well as focused e- newsletter blasts and eRiderAlerts. The shuttles all have a
common Alliance branding which includes a large Alliance logo decal, exterior shuttle
destination signage which includes funding entities. The Redwood City shuttles have an
additional branding element with a unique identifying route logo. In essence, the vehicles are
a rolling billboard for the shuttle service.
The 2005 Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance Employer Transportation Survey
showed that employers who had heard of the Alliance had a drive alone rate of 62.1% versus
75.3% for those who had not heard of the Alliance (PTCRA 2005 Employee Transportation
Survey, pg 21). The Mid Point Caltrain Shuttle is an Alliance managed service and is part of a
package of commute alternative programs offered to the participants in an effort to reduce
traffic and emissions in San Mateo County.
16.
