These findings are supported by the following
mitigation measures which are hereby found to be feasible
and are made applicable to the proposed redevelopment of the
Project Area:

(a) Earth. Impacts on the earth will be mitigated by
conforming new building construction to the latest
standards for seismic design. Within the Seaport sub-
area specifically, impacts on the earth will be mitigated
by the requirement of soils investigation and analyses
prior to design, development of a safety program to
protect occupants in the event of a natural disaster, and
an investigation and engineered plan to eliminate flooding
hazards.

(b) Air. Impacts on air will be mitigated by regulating,
to the greatest extent feasible, the impact of vehicular
traffic in the Project Area including, but not limited
to, encouragement of the use of public transit services,
carpools and bikes.

(c) Water. Mitigation measures to protect against
impacts from water include requiring all structures to
meet the requirements of the Federal Emergency Management
Agency to insure adequate flood protection. Mitigation
measures proposed to lessen impacts to water include
cleaning streets and parking areas which carry water into
the storm drain system and requiring that dredging of
Redwood Creek be done during the summer when pollutants

would be less likely to be carried into the Bay.

10

1862
