ORDINANCE NO 864 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 2, 5, 7, AND 8 OF <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 339 TO PROVIDE FOR REGULATIONS OF <br /> THE COLLECTION, REMOVAL, AND DISPOSAL OF REFUSE <br /> IN THE CITY; AND REGULATING THE COLLECTION THEREOF <br /> AND FIXING AND ESTABLISHING THE RATES TO BE CHARGED. <br /> WHEREAS, on July 7, 1954, the City of Redwood City and the <br /> San Mateo County Scavenger Company, a corporation, hereinafter <br /> referred to as "Company," entered into an agreement for the col- <br /> lection and disposal of garbage, rubbish and waste matter within <br /> the City; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the South County Garbage and Refuse Disposal District <br /> has established certain rules and regulations requiring a change <br /> in the method of garbage and refuse disposal, and the Bay Area <br /> Air Pollution Control District is about to establish additional <br /> regulations governing such disposal; and, <br /> WHEREAS, in view of said existing and proposed changes, City <br /> and Company intend to terminate said agreement dated July 7, 1954, <br /> and enter into a new agreement therefor; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the abovementioned rules and regulations established <br /> by the South County Garbage and Refuse Disposal District require <br /> an immediate change in the method of garbage and refuse disposal <br /> for the protection of the public peace, health and safety; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City hereby <br /> finds and determines that the public interest will be best served <br /> by the termination of said agreement of July 7, 1954; and the <br /> execution of a new agreement commencing July 1, 1957; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the amendments hereinafter set forth must be accom- <br /> plished before July 1, 1957; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the provisions of this ordinance must be effective <br /> before July 1, 1957, to protect the public peace, health and <br /> safety; and <br />
