WHEREAS, this ordinance is necessary as an emergency <br /> measure for the immediate preservation of the public peace, <br /> health and safety; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DO ORDAIN AS <br /> FOLLOWS: <br /> SECTION 1. Section 2 of Ordinance No. 339, entitled "An <br /> Ordinance Providing for the Collection, Removal, and Disposal <br /> of all Refuse, Regulating the Collection Thereof and Fixing and <br /> Establishing the Rates to be Charged; Authorizing and Providing <br /> for the Entering into Contracts for the Collection, Removal, and <br /> Disposal of such Refuse; Fixing the Terms and Conditions under <br /> which such Contracts shall be let and/or renewed," adopted <br /> November 21, 1932, is hereby amended to read as follows : <br /> "SECTION 2. GENERAL PROVISIONS. All occupied <br /> premises within the limits of the City of Redwood City <br /> shall have refuse service as herein specified and for <br /> said service a charge shall be collected as per the <br /> schedule of rates hereinafter provided." <br /> SECTION 2. Ordinance No. 339, referred to above, is hereby <br /> amended by adding thereto Sections 2.1 to 2.9 inclusive, to read <br /> as follows : <br /> "SECTION 2.1. GENERAL PROVISIONS. Collection, removal <br /> and disposal of refuse may be performed by the public ser- <br /> vice department or its authorized representatives or any <br /> person with whom the City of Redwood City has entered into <br /> or may enter into contract with for the collection, removal <br /> and disposal of refuse; and it is declared to be unlawful <br /> for any other person than those as above stated to remove, <br /> or convey or cause or permit to be removed or conveyed any <br /> refuse upon or along any public street or alley or other <br /> public place in the City of Redwood City without a special <br /> written permit as herein provided. <br /> - 2 - <br />
