• <br /> 1 <br /> <_ y <br /> non- uniformed permanent employee, because of change of <br /> rule or otherwise, is required to maintain a uniform, he <br /> shall be credited with the initial allowance in the sum <br /> of $125 upon being required to maintain a uniform. <br /> "Every employee, except employees of the Police Depart- <br /> ment and the Fire Department hereinafter designated, required <br /> to maintain a uniform shall be credited with an annual <br /> uniform allowance of $100. For purposes of this, and the <br /> immediately following paragraph;. employees -of. thePolice <br /> Department of the rank of sergeant or below assigned to the <br /> investigation division of said Department shall not be <br /> deemed to be required to maintain a uniform while actually <br /> assigned to said division. <br /> "Employees of the Police Department required to maintain <br /> a uniform and actively engaged in law enforcement duties, <br /> and employees of the Fire Department required to maintain <br /> a uniform and actively engaged in fire prevention and fire <br /> fighting duties (excluding telephone operators, clerks, dispatchers, <br /> stenographers, machinists, mechanics, or other persons <br /> whose functions do not clearly fall within the scope of <br /> such active law enforcement service or active fire prevention <br /> and fire fighting services) , and who have been so actively <br /> engaged for one year or more with the City of Redwood City <br /> shall be credited with an annual uniform allowance of $150. <br /> "The said annual allowance shall be credited as of <br /> the first day of July of each year for the preceding 12 <br /> month period or pro rata portion thereof during which the <br /> employee was required to maintain a uniform. For purposes <br /> of computing the annual uniform allowance, that portion <br /> of the probationary period falling within said preceding <br /> 12 month period shall.be included." <br /> 2. Section 12 of Rule X of the Personnel Rules and Regula- <br /> tions of the City of Redwood City is hereby amended to read as <br /> follows: <br /> "Section 12. Seasonal Appointment: When period work <br /> loads occur which do not require full time permanent <br /> employees or part -time permanent employees, seasonal help <br /> may be employed for such work loads for periods not to <br /> exceed 1040 hours in any calendar year; provided, however, <br /> that no such hourly limitations shall apply to Engineering <br /> Construction Inspectors employed by seasonal appointment. <br /> Benefits, including life insurance, health insurance, <br /> vacations and sick leave shall not be granted nor accrue <br /> to seasonal employees and such employees shall not acquire <br /> permanent status for the period so employed." <br /> 3.
