x.10 <br />HSFA Applicants FY 03 -04 <br />Attachment II <br />�I Brief Description of Agency Funding Requests 1 <br />HOMELESS /HOUSING <br />Human Investment Proaram (HIP) - Self- Sufficiencv for Sinale Parents <br />The Human Investment Projects (HIP) some of the most vulnerable residents <br />such as seniors, single parents, disabled, and those near homelessness to live <br />independent, self - sufficient lives in decent, safe, affordable housing. HIP <br />provides the only source of homesharing in the County and is, for many <br />Redwood City residents, the only resource for affordable housing. $15,000 was <br />requested to support HIP's Self - Sufficiency Program which enables low - income <br />fami lies to transition from to stable housing by providing them with affordable <br />housing, full case management and support services while they continue their <br />education or job training and/or find employment. <br />San Mateo Countv Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) <br />The San Mateo County Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) mobilizes the <br />community to provide a rotating shelter in churches and synagogues for <br />homeless families. Volunteers prepare and share home - cooked dinners with the <br />guests, facilitate activities with the children and help with homework, remain at <br />the site throughout the night, and prepare breakfast and a bag lunch. As a part <br />of the program, IHN operates a family day center in Burlingame providing a <br />home -base for homeless families during the daytime as they seek further <br />training, employment opportunities, counseling, childcare, etc. And IHN hopes to <br />open a second family day center in the south county in the future. $20,000 was <br />requested to support /HN's rotating shelter program in Redwood City. <br />Service Leaaue of San Mateo Countv - HoDe House <br />Hope House provides a 180 -day recovery program for women who are released <br />from the San Mateo County Women's Correctional Center, and who have a <br />desire to resolve their alcohol and /or drug addictions before returning to the <br />community. As women graduate, they return to the community and are <br />supported in their successful recovery through an alumni group. $5,000 was <br />requested to support the operation of Hope House. <br />EMERGENCY SERVICES <br />Center for Domestic Violence Prevention <br />Recently merged with the Sor Juana Ines Services for Abused Women, CDVP <br />services are designed to address the needs of victims of domestic violence as <br />1 <br />
