b) Provide estimates of the amount of additional recycled use that could be realized by
implementing any of these actions (Table 25).
Subtask 3.4 — Optimization Plan
This subtask will include a plan for optimizing the use of recycled water throughout the
City's service area
This subtask will address Item #51 of the UWMP Guidelines Checklist as described
below.
#51 Provide a plan for optimizing the use of recycled water in the supplier's service area, including
actions to facilitate the installation of dual distribution systems, to promote recirculating uses, to
facilitate the increased use of treated wastewater that meets recycled water standards, and to
overcome any obstacles to achieving that increased use (10633(g)).
a) If the urban water supplier has prepared a recycled water master plan within the past five
years, or similar document, that document may be provided to indicate how recycled water
is planned to be implemented. Provide a brief summary of the plan within the text of the
UWMP and either provide an electronic version on a separate CD -ROM or include as a
printed attachment to the UWMP.
b) If the urban water supplier has not prepared a recycled water master plan, provide
information on each item specified in CWC 10633(g).
Task 4: UWMP Support Deliverables
This task includes preparation of the report documents to be provided to the City,
including:
• Subtask 4.1 — QA/QC of the work in process and report deliverable.
• Subtask 4.1 — Administrative Assistance with word processing, graphics and
report production
• Subtask 4.3 — Technical writing and coordination of review comments (several
rounds of edits may be necessary to ensure the recycled water section of the
UWMP is consistent with other sections that are being written by other
consultants) to the UWMP document.
Task 5: Water Recycling Feasibility Study Update
This task includes preparation of a "Feasibility Study Update" that is intended to update
and supersede the information presented in the 2002 Water Recycling Feasibility Study
for Redwood City and the Community Task Force Alternative "TF ". The Update will be
presented as an Executive Summary Report and include the results of the information
developed in Tasks 1 through 3 into a stand -alone document that can be used as a
planning document for the City, as expansion opportunities for the recycled water
system are considered. This document will include more detailed information than what
is appropriate to include in the UWMP. For example, alternatives analysis details, cost
estimate summaries, and the impact of maintaining or changing the City's policy of not
using recycled water where children play will be summarized.
Five copies of the draft and final Water Recycling Feasibility Study Update Executive
Summary will be provided to the City.
14 of 15 3/22/2011
