This alternative will evaluate the facilities requirements and
pipeline alignments to serve anticipated developments and other
customers in the vicinity of Central Redwood City, including the
downtown area, the Kaiser Campus and the Stanford Campus.
• Alternative 2.B: (Expanded Infrastructure /Changed Policy) This
alternative builds on Alternative 1.B and assumes the restriction
on using recycled water where children play is removed.
Therefore, as compared to Alternative 2.A, the customer base
expands geographically to the west beyond the downtown area up
to the elevation of approximately the Alameda de las Pulgas within
the City limits. Several parks and schools will be added to the
customer base of Alternative 2.A and additional water supply
benefits will be derived for the cost of extended pipelines and
other facilities.
This subtask will address Items #48 and #49 of the UWMP Guidelines Checklist and
portions of Tables 23 & 24 as described below.
#48 Describe and quantify the potential uses of recycled water, including, but not limited to, agricultural
irrigation, landscape irrigation, wildlife habitat enhancement, wetlands, industrial reuse,
groundwater recharge, indirect potable reuse, and other appropriate uses, and a determination with
regard to the technical and economic feasibility of serving those uses (10633(d)).
a) Based on the existing recycled water use and planned recycled water projects, estimate
the amount of recycled water that is projected to be used within the urban water supplier's
service area over the planning horizon of the UWMP (Table 23).
b) Discuss technical and economic feasibility of these projected uses, including the potential
for the projects to be implemented.
#49 Describe the projected use of recycled water within the supplier's service area at the end of 5, 10,
15, and 20 years, and a description of the actual use of recycled water in comparison to uses
previously projected pursuant to this subdivision (10633(e)).
a) From the urban water supplier's 2005 UWMP, provide the 2010 projected estimates of
recycled water use. Compare those estimates to the actual 2010 recycled water use
(Table 24).
Subtask 3.3 - Financial Incentives
This subtask will include a plan for financial incentives that are planned to be
implemented by Redwood City in order to encourage the use of recycled water and the
projected results of the incentives.
This subtask will address Item #50 of the UWMP Guidelines Checklist and Table 25 as
described below.
#50 Describe the actions, including financial incentives, which may be taken to encourage the use of
recycled water, and the projected results of these actions in terms of acre -feet of recycled water
used per year (10633(0).
a) Describe the approaches the urban water supplier is implementing or is planning to
implement to increase or encourage the use of recycled water within its service area. At a
minimum, discuss how financial incentives are being implemented.
13 of 15 3/22/2011
