7.2 -519 <br />The City, with Department Head approval, shall pay a differential of 5% of base <br />pay to employees who can translate Spanish well enough to conduct intense <br />suspect and victim iiterviews at a level that will hold up in court. Officers <br />that accept the 5% pay would be required to agree, when called upon, to <br />translate city wide and be a spokesperson for the police department when <br />communications between the Spanish press and the police department are <br />needed. <br />To retain either the 2.5% or the 5% differential, employees will be required to <br />pass a bi- annual recertification proficiency examination. <br />7.6 Officer -In- Charge Pav <br />When a Police Officer is assigned by the Police Chief or his /her designee to act <br />as the Officer -In- Charge for a period of two (2) hours or more, such Police <br />Officer shall be paid an additional five percent (5 %) of his /her regular hourly <br />rate of pay for all hours so assigned. <br />7.7 Court Pav <br />Except for employees whose work shift ends at 8:00 A.M., an off -duty <br />employee who is subpoenaed to appear in court in cases in which the City is a <br />party shall be compensated at one and one -half (1 -1/2) times the employee's <br />regular straight -time rate for all hours the employee is so ordered by the City <br />to appear with a minimum of four (4) hours. <br />Any employee whose work shift ends at 8:00 A.M., who is subpoenaed to <br />appear in court at 9:30 A.M. or earlier in cases in which the City is a party shall <br />remain on duty and perform regularly scheduled assignments until <br />commencement of the court appearance. The employee shall be compensated <br />at one and one-half (1 -1/2) times the employee's regular straight -time rate of <br />pay for hours worked in excess of his /her regularly scheduled hours and for <br />hours he /she is required to spend attending court proceedings. <br />7.8 Longevity Pav <br />Employees with ten or more years of service with the City of Redwood City who <br />maintain a current satisfactory performance evaluation and possess a valid <br />advanced certificate awarded by the California Commission on Peace Officer <br />Standards and Training along with sixty (60) college semester credits of which <br />twenty -four (24) must be in the Administration of Justice or in the alternative, <br />an employee who possesses an A.A. or higher degree from an accredited <br />institution of higher learning, shall be eligible to receive an additional 7 -1/2% <br />of pay. <br />242. <br />8 <br />
