k , ^ 4 <br /> (j) Demolition and removal of buildings and related <br /> structures except where such buildings and structures <br /> are of historical, archeological or architectural <br /> consequence as officially designated by Federal, <br /> State, City, or other local governmental action. <br /> (2) Class 2 . Replacement or Reconstruction. The replace- <br /> ment or reconstruction of the following existing <br /> structures and facilities where the new structure will <br /> be located on the same site as the structure replaced <br /> and has substantially the same purpose and capacity <br /> as the structure replaced: <br /> (a) Replacement or reconstruction of existing hospitals <br /> to provide earthquake resistent structures which <br /> do not increase capacity more than 50 per cent. <br /> (b) Replacement of commercial structures with new <br /> structures of substantially the same size and <br /> purpose. <br /> (3) Class 3 . New Construction of Small Structures. Con- <br /> struction or installation of the following single new <br /> facilities or structures; and installation of new <br /> equipment and facilities: <br /> (a) Single family residences not in conjunction with <br /> the building of two or more such units. <br /> (b) Motels, apartments, and duplexes designed for not <br /> more than four dwelling units if not in conjunction <br /> with the building of two or more such structures. <br /> (c) Stores, offices, and restaurants if designed for <br /> an occupant load of 20 persons or less, if not in <br /> conjunction with the building of two or more such <br /> structures. <br /> (d) Water main, sewage, electrical, gas, cable television, <br /> telephone, telegraph, and other utility extensions <br /> of reasonable length to serve such construction. <br /> (e) Accessory (appurtenant) structures including garages, <br /> carports, patios, swimming pools and fences. <br /> (4) Class 4 . Minor Alterations to Land. The construction <br /> or alteration in the condition of land, water and/or <br /> vegetation as follows: <br /> (a) Grading on land with a slope of less than ten per <br /> cent, except where such grading is conducted in a <br /> waterway, wetland, officially designated (by Federal, <br /> State or local governmental action) scenic area, <br /> or in officially mapped areas of severe geologic <br /> hazard. <br /> (b) New gardening or landscaping, but not including <br /> tree removal. <br /> -11- <br />
