// All 4/10/73 <br /> REDWOOD CITY SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT <br /> ' The City of Redwood City, recognizing the importance of providing <br /> working conditions which will b'! reasonably safe, and in an effort <br /> to promote safety conscientiousness among its employees, has developed <br /> an industrial safety program deigned- to prevent accidents and <br /> injuries occurz Ong on the job: <br /> The program is designed to identify the responsibility of all those <br /> involved in safety and to provide guidelines for a plan of action. <br /> The program must he considered in all phases of planning, purchasing, <br /> supervising and City operation. Safety will be considered as a part <br /> of productivity in evaluating departmental and employee performance. <br /> • <br /> . A few of the factors to be considered in the safety program are as <br /> follows: <br /> 1. The safety program has City Council and City Manager <br /> approval and support. <br /> 2. Responsibility for seeing that safety procedures are <br /> being observed rests with supervisory personnel. <br /> • <br /> 3 . Safety will be given equally important consideration <br /> with other factors of productivity. <br /> • 4. Provisions have been and will continue to be made for <br /> prompt action in the elimination of mechanical, environ- <br /> mental and personal hazards-. <br /> The City recognizes a legal and moral obligation to provide for the . <br /> safety of its employees . The City has a sincere and continuing . <br /> interest in providing for the safety of employees. This interest <br /> is demonstrated by: <br /> (a) The initiation of a sound safety program With the <br /> policies and procedures necessary to make it effective. <br /> (b) The provision for safe working conditions, machinery <br /> and equipment; including personal safety protective <br /> devices, and apparel where necessary. • <br /> (c) The development of effective training programs for <br /> supervisors and employees. <br /> (d) The encouragement of employee interest and participation <br /> by making available channels through which employees may <br /> offer suggestions, advice and recommendations for the <br /> improvement of safety. <br /> • <br /> • <br /> EXHIBIT A <br /> • <br /> • <br /> • <br />
