Each employee has the moral obligation to cooperate in the safety <br /> program no that he or she does not suffer an industrial injury or <br /> is responsible for the injury of a fellow employee. The exercising <br /> of this obligation is demonstrated by: <br /> (a) Working safely at his job. • <br /> (b) Having regard at all times for the safety of fellow <br /> employees. <br /> (c) Using his knowledge and influence to prevent accidents. <br /> (d) Calling attention to unsafe conditions . <br /> (e) Contributing his or her ideas, suggestions and recommen- <br /> dations for the improvement of safety. <br /> There is little doubt that a safety and health program pays off <br /> whether the payoff is viewed from the humanitarian point of view, <br /> from the cost-savings point of view, or more properly from both <br /> viewpoints. <br /> The following outlines the responsibilities of the Personnel Depart <br /> ment in the safety program: <br /> 1. The maintenance of necessary accident records and data. <br /> 2. Collaboration between Personnel and the operating <br /> departments in job training programs. <br /> 3. Collaboration of Personnel in foreman and supervisory <br /> training. <br /> 4. Stimulation by Personnel and assistance in the preparation <br /> • of Accident Prevention Rules . <br /> 5. Preparation and supervision of the distribution of <br /> educational material as it pertains to specific <br /> hazards on the job. <br /> • <br /> 6. Continually keeping management advised of progress <br /> on the over-all program. <br /> 7. Description and standardization of the necessary <br /> personal protective equipment. <br /> 8.
