Reviewing job procedures regarding the details of how <br /> the job should be done safely so that any potential <br /> hazards may be properly defined, and corrective methods <br /> incorporated in the job procedures. <br /> 10. Maintenance and direction of City safety inspections . <br /> Operating departmental responsibility includes the following: <br /> 1. Developing a. departmental program which will develop` <br /> interest and educate all employees in safety and which <br /> will secure their active cooperation in the effort to <br /> eliminate accidents. <br /> A s an element in the program, <br /> a safety committee composed <br /> of management personnel and one employee selected by the <br /> employee organization representing the majority of the <br /> . employees in the department shall be established. The <br /> employee selected to serve on the departmental safety <br /> committee shall be .invited to all departmental safety <br /> • meetings and may request of the department head that <br /> safety meetings be convened. The purpose of the com- <br /> mittee is to establish and maintain a safety program, <br /> identify safety problems and recommend corrective action, <br /> recommend safety policies and procedures, encourage <br /> employee interest and participation in safety, and to <br /> . recommend effective safety training programs for super- <br /> visors and employees. - <br /> 2 . Preparing necessary accident reports. <br /> 3 . Assisting in formulating job training programs. <br /> • <br /> 4. Assisting in preparing foreman and supervisory training. <br /> 5. Developing departmental safety policies and procedures. <br /> 6. Keeping the City Manager and Personnel Director informed <br /> as to the progress of the departmental safety program. <br /> • 7 . Investigating all injuries and accidents to determine <br /> causes and necessary preventive measures. <br /> 8.
