CHAPTER 7 <br />Sections <br />717 Duties of Election Board. Immediately after the can- <br />vass of the votes and <br />the board of election <br />(a) Post the r <br />of the polling place. <br />(b) Forward to <br />numbers of votes cast <br />declaration of the precinct results, <br />shall do each of the following: <br />esults of the election at the entrance <br />the clerk a certificate showing the <br />for and against each measure. <br />(c) Forward to the clerk: <br />1. The register <br />2. The list of persons casting ballots. <br />3. The ballots. <br />4. The ballot slips together with any proxies or <br />proxies and authorities of personal representa- <br />tives attached thereto. <br />5. The tally sheets. <br />6. All other papers used at the election. <br />718 Canvass by Council. The clerk shall certify the results <br />of the election to the council. At its next meeting, the <br />council shall canvass the returns and enter them in its minutes <br />or in a resolution adopted by it. <br />719 Keeping Returns. The returns and other documents and <br />papers forwarded to the clerk pursuant to subdivision (c) of <br />section 717 shall be filed with and retained by the clerk for <br />at least six months subsequent to the date of the filing of <br />the certificate required by section 718 and thereafter may be <br />destroyed by the clerk if no election contest is pending. <br />24 <br />
