REG:yc:6/24/65 -7 <br /> g -rL - <br /> LS <br /> ORDINANCE NO. )/30.27 <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 31.9 OF ORDINANCE <br /> NO. 1130, THE REDWOOD CITY ZONING ORDINANCE, <br /> RELATING TO UTILITY TRANSMISSION FACILITIES <br /> THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> SECTION 1. Section 31.9 of Ordinance No. 1130, the Redwood <br /> City Zoning Ordinance, adopted May 11, 1964, is hereby amended <br /> to read as follows: <br /> "Section 31.9 Public Utilities Lines and Structures. <br /> (a) Public utility distribution lines and poles and under- <br /> ground facilities for local distribution of gas, water, <br /> electricity and telephone service shall be allowed in all <br /> districts without obtaining a use permit therefor. <br /> "(b) Public utility storage and maintenance yards and <br /> offices shall be permitted only in the districts wherein <br /> such uses and activities are specifically permitted by this <br /> ordinance. <br /> "(c) Public utilities substations, pumping stations, <br /> equipment buildings and similar facilities whose locations <br /> are dictated by the physical factors of the service they <br /> perform may be permitted in any district provided that the <br /> public utility proposing such an installation in a district <br /> where such is not otherwise permitted can demonstrate con- <br /> clusively to the Commission that a necessary public service <br /> cannot reasonably otherwise be provided without locating <br /> such facility where proposed, and provided further that a <br /> use permit be obtained in each case. <br /> "(d) All proposed gas, water, telephone and electric <br /> transmission lines and facilities, whose main purpose is <br /> the transmission of bulk quantities of these services, <br /> rather than local distribution to consumers, shall be <br />
