Y, R- 7- <br />Exhibit B <br />Proposed Amendment: <br />Section 27. NO INTERFERENCE BETWEEN COUNCIL, BOARD OR COMMISSION <br />AND CITY MANAGER, OFFICER OR DEPARTMENT DIREOTOR <br />Notwithstanding any charter provision, ordinance or resolution to the contrary: <br />A. No member of the council, or any board or commission of the City shall in <br />any manner, directly or indirectly, by suggestion or otherwise, attempt to <br />influence or coerce the city manager, or any administrative officer or <br />department director: <br />In the making of any appointment or <br />ii. In the purchase of supplies. <br />B. No member of the council, or any board or commission of the City shall <br />attempt to exact any promise relative to any appointment from any candidate <br />for city manager, administrative officer, or department director. <br />C. Relative to the jurisdiction of the council, or any board or commission of the <br />City, no member thereof shall, in any manner, directly or indirectly, discuss <br />_ with any candidate for city manager, city administrative officer or department <br />director, the employment of any subordinate employee. <br />D. Relative to the jurisdiction of the council, board or commission, no member <br />thereof shall attempt to unduly influence or intervene in the city manager's, <br />administrative officer's, or department director's exercise of supervision or <br />control of any subordinate employee. <br />2. The foregoing shall not preclude any member of the council, or any board or <br />commission from consulting with any city administrative officer or employee for <br />informational purposes. <br />Any violation of the foregoing provisions of this section shall constitute a <br />misdemeanor and shall work a forfeiture of the office of the offending member of the <br />council, board or commission, who may be removed therefrom by the council or by <br />any court of competent jurisdiction. <br />No persons related by blood or marriage to the city manager, city officer or department <br />director having appointment authority, shall be eligible for employment. <br />F: /Atty /Memos/ /Agenda Charter Amendments 5 <br />
