Quality Control Procedures
The City of Redwood City will be guaranteed the highest quality and accurate data, a standard
Davey Resource Group always follows. Included in this data will be GPS coordinates that
demonstrate submeter accuracy. DRG will provide extensive quality control information with
the following processes to ensure that the quality expectations are met and exceeded:
• Training — Quality control is intended to assure quality data. The first step in DRG's
quality control is to provide proper training of qualified individuals to create quality data
from the start. Our field personnel will be ISA Certified Arborists with current
certification.
• Data Collections Specification — A clear understanding of the data and the methods for
collection and categorization ensure high quality data. DRG will work with the City of
Redwood City to develop a detailed specification before actual data collection begins.
• Field Quality Check — At the beginning of the project, 10% of an individual arborist's
information will be checked for quality and completeness. All aspects of data collection
will be reviewed. As the project progresses, the percentage of quality- controlled
information may decrease based on an individual's abilities. DRG's supervisors will
provide quality control of collected information.
• Quality Assurance Methods — Where possible, quality assurance will be completed
electronically so that quality checks are a permanent record of the data collected. This
means there will be additional fields in the data files for quality assurance. Where this is
not practical, quality assurance will be completed on paper forms, with a tally of all
quality assurance activities.
• Quality Assurance Reporting — Quality assurance information will be tallied by week
ending date and provided to the client at least monthly, preferably by e -mail. A more
detailed delivery procedure can be defined if required. Accuracy rates and classification
of any errors will be included as appropriate.
Safety
DRG takes safety very seriously. As indicated in our prior discussion on page 5, we have an in-
house safety program called "Road to Zero." A copy of that safety plan is included as an
Appendix to this document on page 32.
In regards to compliance with the California Injury and Illness Prevention Program, our safety
program complies with (SB198) and DRG follows all reporting requirements. This is
administered by our safety department at our corporate headquarters in Kent, Ohio. In addition,
portions of this program are covered in our weekly tailgates, and in our internal newsletter.
Public right of way job preparation is handled by the individual inventory arborists. Each
vehicle is equipped with cones to put on the street side of the vehicle. Each arborist wears a
safety vest that identifies them as a contractor with Davey Resource Group. Each arborist also is
required to wear a hardhat in the field. We make a point of not impeding traffic either on the
sidewalk or in the street, so the public is not affected by our presence.
Prepared for City of Redwood City, California 13
Prepared by Davey Resource Group
