Salary for second step is $297.00. <br /> REGARDING UNIFORM ALLOWANCE FOR POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL. The recommendation was <br /> to include all uniform personnel in both Police and Fire Departments adding a provision <br /> to restrict an accumulation of the allowance to a total of $100.00. The cost of adding <br /> II the additional personnel will amount to $200.00 for four police personnel and $200.00 for <br /> four fire personnel. Councilman Jones moved approval, seconded by Councilman Spillers and <br /> carried. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS, CITY COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT HEADS. <br /> COUNCILMAN STOUT REPORTED ON A MEETING ON REFUSE DISPOSAL AS SET -UP BY THE COUNTY. Councilman <br /> Stout has been appointed as sub - chairman for South San Mateo County to consult with City <br /> Administrators regarding the proposed County -wide plan. He requested Council consideration <br /> at the January 19th study meeting to enable him to report back to the County Committee on <br /> February 1st. <br /> Councilman GRANGER SUGGESTED THAT THE COUNCIL GO ON RECORD ENCOURAGING INDUSTRY TO DEVELOP <br /> EQUIPMENT TO CONTROL SMOKE AND SMOG. It was his thought that Council might exempt such <br /> smoke control equipment from the assessment roll. City Attorney was of the opinion that <br /> this could be worked out legally and report will be made at the January 17th meeting. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER SUGGESTED THAT THE TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE CONTACT THE STATE AND <br /> REQUEST SPEED SIGNS FOR THE OAKWOOD BOULEVARD area to protect the pedestrian lane after <br /> the flasher type signals have been installed. Agenda January 24th. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER, NOTING THAT JANUARY 31st HAD BEEN ESTABLISHED AS A DEADLINE FOR VETERANS <br /> OF THE KOREAN WAR TO RECEIVE BENEFITS, stated that in his opinion a suitable scroll should <br /> be prepared to replace the present service flag. Mayor Herkner appointed Councilman Gran- <br /> ger as a committee of one to bring in his recommendation. <br /> CITY MANAGER ROLISON INFORMED COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI THAT HE HAD CONTACTED MR. DAVIES AND RE- <br /> QUESTED THAT THE FENCE ON FRANKLIN STREET BE CONSTRUCTED as promised to the Planning Com- <br /> mission. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE REPORTED THAT THE BYDGNES -SMITH PETITION TO REZONE CANYON ROAD AND OAK <br /> KNOLL had been before the Planning Commission who had approved request to certain condi- <br /> tions. This matter has not been referred to the Council as yet. <br /> CITY ENGINEER JAIN STATED THAT A STUDY HAD BEEN MADE COVERING DRAINAGE OF WOODSIDE ACRES BE- <br /> TWEEN KENTFIELD, PALM AVENUE AND VALOTA ROAD. Petitions are being prepared and they will <br /> be circulated on the basis of preliminary estimates of $1.50 per hundred square feet for <br /> drainage and $13.50 per front foot for improvements. <br /> BIDS - 1/2 -TON PICK -UP TRUCK.
