) .e <br /> CITY MANAGER REPORT REGARDING RAT EXTERMINATION. Letter from Health Department stating that <br /> a survey along Redwood Creek to determine the extent of rodent infestation was made. <br /> This survey indicated that no apparent infestation existed in the banks along the creek <br /> between Bayshore Highway and the City Hall, nor did there appear to be infestation in <br /> the storm drains emptying into this section of Redwood Creek. The Health Department <br /> recommended that rodent extermination be centered along Redwood Creek between Jefferson <br /> and El Camino Real. <br /> City Manager stated that he could secure the services of a local pest control firm to <br /> make a further survey and extermination program at a reasonable cost. Councilman Royer <br /> moved that the City Manager be authorized to proceed and have the work done, seconded <br /> by Councilman Stout and carried. Councilman Granger stated that for many years the <br /> rodent problem has been evident and he feels that this work should be done. <br /> PETITION TRAFFIC SIGNAL, WOODSIDE ROAD, MASSACHUSETTS AND SAN CARLOS INTERSECTION - CITY, <br /> COUNTY AND STATE PROJECT. Mrs. Adeline Moshell, Traffic and Safety Chairman of the <br /> Selby Lane School, appeared stating that she is working in conjuction with Henry Ford <br /> School and Goodwin School representatives who feel that a signal is very much needed <br /> at the above intersection for the protection of the children going to those schools <br /> as well as, pedestrians in general. She asked if the Council would consider the need <br /> for traffic lights at that intersection. Councilman Britschgi moved that this be re- <br /> ferred to the Traffic Fact Finding Committee requesting a study of the Hudson Street <br /> intersection also to report back to the Council, seconded by Councilman Royer. Coun- <br /> cilman Stout requested that lights at Woodside and Alameda be considered also in this <br /> motion. Captain Faulstich advised that the State had been approached regarding signals <br /> on Woodside Road and had been notified that traffic count indicated signals were not <br /> warranted. <br /> After being advised that the Woodside and Alameda intersection was not within the City, <br /> the original motion was voted upon and carried, the committee to report at the June 20th <br /> meeting. Councilman Granger stated his opinion that one traffic signal only should be <br /> considered, stating also that he would not vote in favor of two signals. <br /> Councilman Stout moved that the City Clerk communicate with the County Supervisors re- <br /> questing a study of the Alameda intersection, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and <br /> carried. <br /> CITY ENGINEER ON BID OPENING, PAVE AND RECONSTRUCT ALAMEDA FROM GOODWIN TO MASSACHUSETTS. <br /> City Engineer's estimate of the job was approximately $18,540.00. The following bids <br /> were presented to the Council with the recommendation of the City Engineer that the <br /> job be awarded to lowest bidder, Sondgroth Bros., subject to the approval of the <br /> Division of Highways: <br /> Sondgroth Bros. $20,071.68 <br /> Douglass & Woodhouse 20,491.60 <br /> II Oscar Holmes 20,843.60 <br /> Bauman Brothers 20,939.68 <br /> Bragato Paving Company 20,956.46 <br /> The low bid of Sondgroth Bros. is 8.3% over the Engineer's estimate.
